Fenerbahce defender Andre Santos has arrived in London today to undergo a medical with Arsenal before his £6.2million move can be completed.

The Gunners have agreed a fee with Turkish giants for the 28-year-old and will help fill the gaps left by the sales of Gael Clichy to Manchester City and Armand Traore to QPR.

Manager Arsene Wenger has been forced into a move for the Brazil international after rookie defender Kieran Gibbs has suffered a string of injuries.

Arsenal accepted QPRs’ £1.2 million offer for Armand Traore yesterday and, while he travelled across London for a medical, Wenger agreed a deal with Fenerbahce for the experienced left-back

The Turkish outfit had their hand forced, after being excluded from the Champions League amid match-fixing allegations last week.

Santos is due in London this afternoon for a medical, and is expected to sign a four-year-contract.

Arsenal are expected to continue their spending until the transfer window closes at 11pm tomorrow, with board and fans alike desperate for new faces.

South Korea captain Park Chu-Young’s move from Monaco will be confirmed later today, while Per Mertesacker and Yann M’Villa are both in advanced talks to join the Gunners.
