Anfield flop subject of Villa Park interest.
Skysports.com understands Aston Villa are planning a late move for Liverpool’s out-of-favour midfielder Joe Cole.
The former Chelsea man is being tipped to leave Anfield and had been in talks over a move to French side Lille.
However, Villa could be willing to hijack the move, with the Ligue 1 champions struggling to afford the winger’s wages.
Villa have brought in Charles N’Zogbia from Wigan, but are still short of creative options after losing Ashley Young and Stewart Downing.

It had looked as though a move to Lille was on the cards but reports are arriving of a late push by Aston Villa to bring in the former West Ham and Chelsea man. Alex McLeish has lost wingers Ashley Young and Stewart Downing and is keen to add more creativity to his side but will the Liverpool man prefer a move to the French Champions League participants over a move to the Midlands?
The Londoner has struggled at Liverpool and whilst he was getting some playing time under Roy Hodgson his chances at Anfield have floundered since the arrival of Kenny Dalglish and the purchases of Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and the aforementioned Downing have pretty much ended his career on Merseyside.
A move to Aston Villa could be the chance to resurrect a career that is in free-fall and Liverpool will reportedly accept offers of as little as £3m for the 29 year old. The likes of Tottenham and QPR are also said to be keen.
