Nou Camp side want another Emirates Stadium star.
Alex Song is a target for European champions Barcelona.
Song has impressed Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger this season and Arsenal have already made one attempt to secure the Cameroon international on a longer deal.
There are still more than three years to run on his current contract but Wenger views Song as a major asset as his versatility has seen him play him in both central defence and midfield.
Arsenal’s initial offer was rejected — but Wenger is determined and is certain to come back in an attempt to keep Song for another four years at least.
If Song refuses the offer Barcelona are ready to swoop next summer.
They are ready to pay more than £15million and manager Pep Guardiola will first talk to former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.

This may well be worrying news for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger who has seen Alex Song grow and mature into an excellent defensive midfielder and a player who gives his more creative outlets more time on the ball.
The 24 year old Cameroon international spent his first couple of seasons at the North London club struggling to adapt to the pace of the English game and continually mistiming challenges and losing possession but over the past 18 months the former Bastia man has become crucial to the Gunners.
Pep Guardiola may feel that Song is a defensive midfield option that offers him more than the likes of Sergio Busquets and the reportedly exit bound Seydou Keita, indeed as Javier Mascherano has spent a large portion of his time at the Nou Camp playing at centre back, and excelling, there may well be more of a need to beef up the club’s options in this area.
Arsenal lost Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona and the fear is that should Wenger fail to secure at the very least a top four finish that a number of his squad may feel it is time to leave a club that appears to be on a downward slope after six seasons without silverware and unable to break back into the coveted Champions League spots.
Wenger needs Song, not least because youngster Emmanuel Frimpong is still raw and not ready for regular first team football.
