Paul Pogba still to agree new terms on Old Trafford stay.
Hamburg are watching Manchester United’s contract stand-off with Paul Pogba and are ready to make a move should the Frenchman fail to agree a new deal at Old Trafford.
Pogba is seen as one of United’s most outstanding youth prospects and has already gained first team experience in the Carling Cup this season.
The midfielder, 18, will be free to speak to other clubs in January if he fails to sort out his contract situation, as his present deal expires in the summer.
talkSPORT revealed this week how United were confident they can keep Pogba at Old Trafford but German side Hamburg are ready to make their move.
The Bundesliga side have already been successful in signing Chelsea youth prospects Gokhan Tore and Jeffrey Bruma – the latter is on loan – and Thorsten Fink now has his eyes on another young talent in England in Pogba.
By all accounts, Paul Pogba is a highly promising young footballer.
However, if there is any truth in the stories that the young Frenchman wants to leave Old Trafford due to a lack of first team football, plenty of questions would be asked of him.
Very few 18 year-olds feature in the Manchester United first team on a regular basis – especially in such a demanding position as central midfield – though Pogba doubtless would find it easier to push his way in alongside Chelsea starlets Tore and Bruma at Hamburger SV.
Perhaps Tom Cleverley’s injury could give Pogba some more first team chances before Christmas – and allow him to reconsider a transfer away from Old Trafford.
