Real Madrid may be about to offload Brazilian superstar Kaka – and are ready to sound out Chelsea about signing him.

The Spanish giants could be tempted to sell for around £30million, even though the former European and World Footballer of the Year’s fortunes at Real have recently improved, helping him win back his place in the Brazil side.

The big-spending Blues are keen to improve their squad after their worst start to a season since Abramovich took over – although it is believed boss Andre Villas-Boas sees his forward line as top priority.

Chelsea are ready to offload striker Nicolas Anelka in January and may yet go back for Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric.

Andre Villas-Boas has not enjoyed the start of his Stamford Bridge reign and reports suggest that the young Portuguese boss is skating on thin ice and indeed if the West London side fail to overcome Valencia and book a spot in the last 16 of the Champions League, then January moves may longer be an issue for the former FC Porto manager.

Luka Modric was clearly a Chelsea target over the summer but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy stuck by his guns and prevented a deal being struck but the Blues are looking to re-ignite their interest but given the successful start to the campaign the North London side have had, a move may not be on the Croatian’s mind.

A move to sign Real Madrid playmaker Kaka may be a more likely one. Though the 29 year old Brazilian has begun to force his way back into Jose Mourinho’s thinking the former AC Milan has still only started seven out of the La Liga giants 19 matches this term.

Roman Abramovich will have to decide if he is going to back his manager in January and reports suggest that the Russian is willing to do so but a number of Chelsea players may be heading for the exit to help balance the books.

The likes of Nicolas Anelka, Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and even Fernando Torres have been strongly linked with departures.
