Anfield replacement search begins.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish will no doubt be considering a January move to bring in a defensively minded midfielder now that it appears that Brazilian international Lucas Leiva will be out for the rest of the season.
The 24 year old had been in fine form this term and the loss of such a key player should not be underestimated and though the Merseyside club has brought Jonjo Shelvey back from his loan stint at Blackpool it is clear that a new addition may be needed to help the Anfield club’s push for a top four finish.
Though Liverpool have a number of central midfield options, including the likes of Charlie Adam, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Jay Spearing as well as Alberto Aquilani, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.
