Anfield boss keen on in form sharp-shooter.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is in the race for Chile striker Eduardo Vargas – and is ready to join a transfer window auction.
Dalglish sent a top spy to watch the Universidad de Chile star in action last weekend and Vargas’s camp claim they are now in talks about a January move.
Vargas is rated in the £15million class and the Kop’s interest comes as a shock after splashing out on Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez in that department this year.

Eduardo Vargas is attracting a great deal of interest due to his consistent performances for Universidad de Chile, whom he has helped to reach the Copa Sudamericana final, netting eight goals in the competition. The 22 Chilean may well be an ideal foil for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez who is yet to forge a good partnership with either Andy Carroll or Dirk Kuyt.
Liverpool join the likes of Arsenal, Inter Milan and CSKA Moscow as prospective suitors for a striker who has been nominated for the South American Footballer of the year award, such have been his displays over this season.
Vargas is an adaptable attacker who initially plied his trade out wide but has become a more orthodox striker since his move from Cobreloa to the Estadio Nacional 18 months ago.
The Santiago born striker is said to be interested in a move to Europe and Liverpool have been scouting Vargas and are reportedly impressed by what they have seen.
