Stamford Bridge star set for China move.
Nicolas Anelka will decide whether to join Shanghai Shenhua on a three-year deal by the start of next week.
His camp is in talks with the Chinese Super League club, who are expected to bring former France international and Fulham boss Jean Tigana in as manager.
Neither club has revealed details about the transfer fee but discussions taking place between the player and the club include details on image rights.
Anelka was Avram Grant’s first signing at Chelsea in January 2008.

32 year old striker Anelka is clearly aware that at this stage in his career it would be fairly pointless sitting on the bench and praying for team-mates to either get injured or lose form and a move to China would be a brave but interesting move to make.
Shanghai Shenua finished their last campaign in mid-table and the next campaign begins in April which will give Anelka plenty of chance to get accustomed to life in China ahead of the next season.
The Chelsea striker had slipped behind the likes of Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres, Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge in the Blues pecking order and has made just three Premier League starts thus far this season.
