Anfield transfer activity dissected.
When Kenny Dalglish took over from Roy Hodgson it’s fair to say that Liverpool were a club in crisis and over the course of his first year back at the Anfield helm there is no denying there is renewed optimism at the Merseyside club but that is not to say that all is rosy in L4.
Liverpool currently find themselves on the fringes of a Champions League spot in sixth spot and Messrs Dalglish and Comolli may well have expected a little more given the large sums they have spent in conducting a much needed squad re-building process.
The club spent over £100m to bring nine new players to the club, although that figure is off set by at least £70m being recouped from the sales of Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel and Raul Meireles among others. Liverpool still struggle to break down sides that set their stall out to defend and admittedly perhaps wobble at the back far too often but that said overall the spending made by Messrs Dalglish and Comolli has on the whole been a success.
In this article I will look to grade each player signed in 2011 and look at what they have given the side or indeed what they can offer in the long term if they have as yet not made an impact. Players placed in order of performances to date.
