Bolton defender’s wage demands may see Stamford Bridge club look to Portugal.
With Chelsea growing increasingly frustrated by negotiations with Gary Cahill – who is reportedly hoping to land a £120,000 per week deal – they may look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola claim that FC Porto right back Jorge Fucile is interested in a move to either Stamford Bridge or fellow top four aspiring rivals Liverpool.
Liverpool seem a less likely option, as Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly and even Jon Flanagan are capable of filling in the position to a high standard.
Chelsea meanwhile have seemingly been on a quest to find a super standard right back since the dawn of time, with current players Jose Bosingwa unconvincing, Branislav Ivanovic preferring central defence and Paulo Ferreira winding down his career.
Whether Fucile is the man to fill the gap remains to be seen though.
After all, both Ferreira and Bosingwa were recruited from Portugal at considerable expense.
