Could Amauri rediscover his form at Loftus Road?
QPR are considering signing Juventus striker Amauri this January to ease the burden placed on Heidar Helguson up front.
The Brazilian born (but Italian capped) forward has fallen out of favour in Turin, and is available on a free transfer this month.
“One player will be free from any obligation vis-à-vis Juventus commencing from January 2012, and who is no longer included in the new technical programme,” said a statement from the Juve board of directors – and that player is widely thought to be 31 year-old Amauri.
Amauri cost Juventus €22.8m in summer 2008, and scored 7 goals in 11 games on loan at Parma last season.
He is still a threat then, but given Juventus’ financial troubles, they appear to have elected to allow him to leave on a free.
“A future in Italy or abroad? We are evaluating a number of options without ruling anything out,” Amauri’s agent Giampiero Pocetta is quoted as saying to calciomercato.it.
