The transfer window for 2012 has been open for just over a week and while no significant business has been conducted yet, prepare to see hundreds of millions of pounds spent on players as the deadline approaches.

Here, David Walker, who runs a free bets website (http://www.freebetsite.com) has identified 50 players who could be joining a new Premier League club this month.

Eric ABIDAL

The Barcelona defender sees his contract coming to an end this season and there will be no shortage of clubs looking to secure the 32-year-old defender’s services now ahead of a free transfer move in the summer. The 60-capped player, who recovered from a liver tumour last year, has been courted by both Liverpool and Manchester City, although they will face competition from AC Milan for Abidal’s signature.

Scott ALLAN

After making less than 10 senior appearances for Scottish Premier League side Dundee United, Allan could be heading to West Bromwich Albion. Contract negotiations between Allan and his club broke down after he demanded a weekly wage of around £1,600 a week which would have made him the club’s third-highest earner. The Scotland under-21 has also been linked to Manchester United, Newcastle United, Celtic and Rangers but it is Roy Hodgson who was expressed firm interest. Note: Scott Allan has now completed his move to the Hawthorns.
