Emirates Stadium boss closes in on defensive target.
Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that the club are ready to sell defender Aly Cissokho.
Both Arsenal and Newcastle have been strongly linked with the French international.
Cissokho has started every game for Lyon this season but they need cover in central defence and are seemingly willing to cash in.
The 24-year-old has also never hidden his desire to ply his trade in the Premier League.
“Possible winter departures? That doesn’t mean we don’t have any more means, but we want to keep the rules we set, which is to not increase deficit,” Aulas told L’Equipe.
“The transfer of Aly Cissokho? I am rather in favour of it.”

Well there you have it. Lyon’s president has basically issued a ‘come and get me’ plea on behalf of Aly Cissokho and given that the player is reportedly an Arsenal target it may well prove very tempting for Arsene Wenger as he looks to rectify his side’s hideous full back injury crisis.
With Bacary Sagna, Kieran Gibbs, Andre Santos, Carl Jenkinson and Francis Coquelin all sidelined the Gunners boss is once again having to look to members of his Emirates Stadium squad to act as makeshift full backs with Johan Djourou continuing to act in this role on the right side of defence.
Though Wenger has stated his intention to bring in a short term solution to this crisis, with a loan signing, a move for the inexpensive Cissokho, said to be available for around £6m, may make a more ideal proposition. The 24 year old has a lot of experience for his age and the left back is reportedly very interested in a move to the North London side and may well feel that a high profile move to the Premier League club could help in his pursuit to make Laurent Blanc’s Euro 2012 French squad.
