Well this would be mighty surprising. Whilst it may be true that Arsenal could do with striking reinforcements, especially with Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh away on African Nations Cup duty, a move for the Croatian international would be something of a shock move for Arsene Wenger to make.
Ally McCoist has admitted that he faces a struggle to keep the 26 year old at Ibrox and the 26 year old is said to be keen on a move south of the border and a number of Premier League sides have been linked with the former Rapid Vienna man, including QPR, Liverpool and Sunderland.
Though Jelavic has netted freely with Rangers, 34 goals in 53 appearances, he hasn’t proved as effective on international duty managing just two goals in 17 matches, in friendlies with Qatar and Slovakia, perhaps this is evidence that the Croat is not ready for a jump up to a ‘bigger’ league.
After all prior to his move to Glasgow Jelavic had only managed to score regularly at Rapid and had even struggled to find form in Belgium with Waregem and in Croatia with Hajduk Split.
Wenger brought in Thierry Henry on a loan deal to help beef up attacking numbers and has been linked with moves with a number of alternative options but the North London side seem highly unlikely to bring in Rangers man this month.
