Martin Jol closes in on Craven Cottage striking addition.
Sky Sports sources understand that Stuttgart striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is undergoing a medical at Fulham.
The Russia international had been connected with Fulham’s Premier League rivals West Brom but Roy Hodgson on Monday played down talk of a move.
It is now believed that Pogrebnyak has linked up with the Cottagers to be put through a series of physical tests ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Pavel Pogrebnyak may well prove to be a very wise acquisition as Martin Jol looks to continue to steer his West London side upwards towards the top half of the table. The 28 year old Russian international has been a moderate success since his move to the Bundesliga, netting 22 goals in 87 appearances with Stuttgart but a move to Fulham appears to be have tempted the Moscow born forward.
With Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson both strongly linked with a move away from Craven Cottage a move for an alternative goal-scoring option may well be needed. Currently Jol counts a great deal on goals coming from his advanced midfielders Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele, who can both be used as forwards, so a move for Pogrebnyak makes a great deal of sense.
The 6f 2in forward’s physical presence may well lend itself well to a move to the Premier League.
