Ezekiel Fryers stalls on Old Trafford contract.
Manchester United youngster Ezekiel Fryers is delaying signing a new contract at the club, according to Sky Sports.
This has led the Red Devils to fear losing the defender, as they did Ravel Morrison just days ago.
Morrison had been unable to agree a new deal at Old Trafford, and his questionable behaviour off the field offset his talent, with both parties electing to cut their losses.
Ezekiel Fryers certainly does not have the same troubles as Morrison, but Sir Alex Ferguson will be worried at the games of brinkmanship his young players are playing with Manchester United and their own careers – particularly given his widely publicised disdain of agents.
Paul Pogba is another Man Utd player who is out of contract this summer, and has stalled on agreeing new terms, but Ferguson said this week he believed that particular solution was coming to a positive solution.
Fryers has considerable potential, with his ability to play across the back line a definite asset. His primary position though is left back, and he could well be the long term successor to Patrice Evra in that role for Manchester United.
However, with Sky Sports reporting several Premier League clubs willing to take a chance on him, the ball is in Manchester United’s court.
