Catalan giants want White Hart Lane attacker.
Barca have watched Bale SEVEN times this season
Barcelona have stepped up their interest in Gareth Bale, after sending scouts to watch the Spurs winger SEVEN times this season.
Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is believed to have sounded out Bale’s representatives and wants to see if Tottenham will sell the Welsh star.
Although chairman Daniel Levy insists Bale is not for sale, the Spanish giants believe he does have a price somewhere north of £40million.
Barca have refused to publicly confirm their interest in Bale and fear the price is already getting out of hand.
They may be willing to offer a player-plus-cash deal at the end of the season to test Tottenham’s resolve.

Given that White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy resisted advances from Chelsea for Luka Modric in the summer can Tottenham manage to keep Gareth Bale from being snapped up by Barcelona? Clearly if the North London side continue to impress and go on to clinch that top four finish then the Welshman may be more likely to remain at the club, however it would clearly be hard to keep the 22 year old former Southampton from being tempted by a move to the Nou Camp.
Over the past two years Bale has matured into a hugely effective performer and has notched up an impressive nine goals and eight assists so far this season and it’s no surprise that Barcelona would be keen on the Tottenham wideman.
If Harry Redknapp felt he had little chance of keeping Bale from having his head turned by Barcelona interest then an offer of £40m, as well as a possible player in exchange, would be very handy indeed but clearly selling one of your top talents could set a precedent that Levy is keen to avoid.
