Andre Villas-Boas prepares to welcome talented Shakhtar Donestk youngster.
Willian transfer to Chelsea ‘agreed for the summer’
Willian will leave Shakhtar Donetsk for Chelsea in the summer transfer window, according to sources in his native Brazil.
The Blues had a £16 million bid for the attacking midfielder rejected last month, but the Ukrainian club indicated they were willing to sell if they received an offer closer to the £29 million buyout clause in his contract.
It now appears Chelsea returned with an improved package and that a deal is close to being agreed.
The information was leaked by Santos chairman Luis Alvaro, after the Brazilian club had their request to take the 23-year-old on loan rejected.
‘We gave up because of a proposal that they received from Chelsea,’ he told Jornal da Manha.

It seems that despite Andre Villas-Boas’s faltering start to his Blues managerial career, Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich is still willing to back the young Portuguese boss financially. There may well be more of a need to bring in an attacking midfielder like Willian, who can also play out wide, as the Chelsea boss may well be ready to offload a number of his squad in the summer.
23 year old Willian is into his fifth season at Ukraine powerhouse Shakhtar Donetsk and the former Corinthians man has become something of a cult hero at the club, securing three domestic titles and a UEFA Cup triumph in the process.
Andre Villas-Boas is said to be ready to offload Florent Malouda and that may well leave space for the Brazilian. The West London club have apparently made a bid in the region of £22m and according to this source that bid has been tentatively agreed.
