Teenage centre back set for Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have signed Danish youngster Andreas Christensen from Superliga club Brondby IF.
The 15 year-old has signed a four year contract, and will move to Stamford Bridge on July 1st.
Christensen had multiple offers, but decided that his development would be best served at Chelsea – the Blues’ style of play under manager Andre Villas Boas was a key clincher in the deal.
“I have chosen Chelsea because they play the kind of football I like,” confirmed Christensen to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet.
“At the same time, they have the best plan for my future in football.”
Christensen joins a selection of great talents to emerge from Brondby, with the most famous club luminaries including legendary Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, former Bolton Wanderers forward Johan Elmander and current Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.
It is of course far too early for comparisons between those players and Christensen, but Chelsea clearly see quite some potential in the teenager.
Ekstra Bladet claim the West London club beat off Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Ajax to Christensen’s signature, and perhaps one day Christen will be the backbone of the Chelsea defence.
