Internacional striker wanted at Anfield and White Hart Lane.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are on high alert after the agent of Internacional striker Leandro Damiao indicated his client could well leave the club this summer.
According to Inside Futbol, the two English clubs named above are amongst Damiao’s suitors, and finally he sounds ready to move on, with a move to a big European team likely.
The 22 year-old Damiao has scored 52 goals in 86 games for Internacional so far, and his prowess in front of net has certainly alerted some keen interest from across the Atlantic.
He also won his first Brazil cap last year, scoring the only goal to clinch victory against Ghana at Craven Cottage of all places.
What has kept Damiao at Internacional thus far in his career is the chance to play in the Copa Libertadores – the South American equivalent of the UEFA Champions League.
Damiao won the competition in 2010, and is clearly hungry for more success at continental level – which seems to be what helped Internacional stave off interest from certain Serie A giants.
“From Italy there were several enquiries, but no formal negotiations with Inter [Milan] or with other teams,” said Damiao’s agent Vinicius Prates.
“In January, the club and the player decided to continue with a view to the Copa Libertadores.”
“But in July the situation could change – if there is a good deal for the club and the player.”
Would Damiao be a good signing for either Spurs or Liverpool?
