Saint Etienne ace on way to Emirates Stadium?
Arsenal are thought to be watching Saint Etienne’s teenage centre back Kurt Zouma, who has lit up Ligue 1 with a series of impressive displays.
Despite his tender age of just 17, Zouma has displayed maturity beyond his years in his few first team appearances to date.
He has made just 15 so far in his short career.
The Lyon born Zouma is a tall, strong central defender, with excellent timing of the tackle. He seems destined for the top.
Arsene Wenger has had a tough time with central defenders recently, with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker each having to depart the field of play with injuries.
Still, the signings of Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen in the last few seasons have shown that Wenger still possesses a great eye for finding relatively undiscovered talents and turning them into great players, with Koscielny the top tackler in the Premier League this season.
Mertesacker could also prove a fine player, with his reading of the game up there with the best in the Premier League, although Johan Djourou has struggled somewhat this season – partially due to being played out of position at full back.
However, he did have an excellent previous season, and if played in his main position could be back to his best.
Perhaps Kurt Zouma could also prove a similar success to those names should he eventually end up signing for Arsenal.
