Time for a squad shake up at the Emirates Stadium?
Arsenal look likely to make it seven seasons on the trot without a taste of silverware and could even follow up that unenviable run of form by missing out on a top four spot which has led many Gunners fans to speculate and discuss the possibility of some significant transfer activity this summer.
Whilst Arsene Wenger is not known for splashing the cash or acting rashly he may feel that he has no choice other than to spend freely in order to improve a squad that is not only light in numbers and lacking strength in depth but also has a real lack of top notch talent.
With Robin Van Persie still to put pen to paper on a new deal the list of top quality players at the Emirates Stadium could get even thinner and the need to bring in established quality, be it in the form of up and coming talent with real potential or players who have been there and done it, could well be the deciding factor when it comes to whether the Dutchman opts to stick it out with the North London club.
With that in mind here are seven players who could have been linked with moves to Arsenal and who could well increase the quality of those available to Wenger, in order to help end the silverware drought and make the Gunners genuine title chasers.
Marko Marin (Werder Bremen)
Speedy crafty winger who has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, most prominently by the Metro, and given that Marin’s current contract will have just a year to run come the end of the campaign a move could well be a relatively cheap one.
Given the poor form shown by Theo Walcott and Andrei Arshavin, a move for the young German may make a great deal of sense.
