Emirates Stadium side plot surprise move for San Siro attacker.
Gazzetta dello Sport says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been impressed by El Shaarawy’s progress this season and is exploring the prospect of luring him to London in the summer.
Milan are reluctant to lose El Shaarawy, though are likely to send him away next season to continue his development.
Genoa is a likely destination, where a co-ownership deal is being mooted.
This something of a surprise. Whilst Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is known for his penchant for bringing in young starlets and turning them into household names it seems unlikely that AC Milan would either sell or loan the Italian Under 21 international to the North London club this summer.
If the idea was to get the 19 year old some much needed playing time then a move to a club nearer to Milan would surely be more suitable and as regards to a sale it seems improbable that Massimiliano Allegri would look to sell the talented teenager just a year after signing the youngster from Genoa.
El Shaarawy has been a consistent member of the AC Milan squad this term making 23 appearances in all competitions, albeit the lions share of those coming from the bench. The tricky adaptable attacker, who can play out wide or up front, is considered by many to be one of the hottest prospects in European football.
Wenger has a number of youngsters coming through the ranks in positions that the AC Milan man would be used in, up and coming talents like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ryo Miyaichi and Joel Campbell so a move for the young Italian would be an odd one to say the least.
