Villa Park boss keen on Anfield man.
ASTON VILLA ON POLE TO NET JOE COLE
ASTON VILLA are ready to offer Joe Cole the chance to revive his Premier League career.
Villa boss Alex McLeish is lining up a swoop for the midfielder when he returns to Liverpool from Lille.
Cole has got his career back on track during his year-long loan in France, leading to talk of a possible England recall.
The 30-year-old joined Liverpool on a free from Chelsea in 2010 but was loaned to Lille after a difficult first year at Anfield.
He still has two years left on his £70,000-a-week deal.
But Cole has been told he has no long-term future at Liverpool, who are likely to let him leave for free.

Whilst it’s true that Joe Cole has become a man reborn at the Stade Metropole the 30 year old midfielder, who still has hopes of an England recall, may feel that a move back to the Premier League would be the right move to make this summer. The Liverpool man went out on a limb and stepped out of his comfort zone when he went to Lille on a temporary deal which could have easily failed and the former Chelsea man has performed admirably this term and got his career back on track.
A move back to Liverpool seems unlikely given that the likes of Jordan Henderson, Steven Gerrard, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Dirk Kuyt and even Jonjo Shelvey stand in his way in the central and wide areas he plies his trade in. If Aston Villa can nab Cole on a free transfer they will then presumably be able to meet his reported high wage demands as well.
Cole will however be looking for first team football guarantees though Lille may put in their own move for the Londoner, especially if star turn Eden Hazard leaves the club in the summer.
Joe Cole struggled in his first season at Liverpool, during which time there was much upheaval at the club, but this season has gone very well with the attack minded midfielder notching up 35 appearances, scoring 8 goals in the process as well as playing in the Champions League to boot.
