Arsenal Want Highly Rated Quartet: Enforcer, Goal Machine, Defensive Rock & Midfield Maestro On Wenger Wish-List

Emirates Stadium side chase a number of new signings this summer.

Arsenal will have to break their transfer record to buy £17m-rated Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila.

Wenger made an inquiry for M’Vila last summer but Rennes eventually persuaded the 21-year-old to sign a new contract on the understanding that they would allow him to leave this year, subject to an acceptable offer.

They still intend to honour that agreement but would want at least £17 million for a player who has already being hailed in France, where he is an established international, as the next Claude Makelele.

A move for midfield enforcer Yann M’Vila appear to be just one of four that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has lined up for this summer and according to this source the North London side is looking to make big changes to their Emirates Stadium squad this summer.

M’Vila may well add some much needed steel to a midfield more well known for it’s stylish forward thinking approach. Whilst Alex Song has improved a great deal the Cameroon international has arguably become a more well rounded player able to put in a number of assists to combine with his overall defensive movements.

Emmanuel Frimpong is seen very much as a work in progress, hence the need to look to other options to help protect the more flair players in their armoury.

Rennes will struggle to keep hold of their 21 year old prized asset, especially with the Euro 2012 finals coming up, a tournament where M’Vila may well further impress prospective suitors, hence Wenger’s hope to sign the French international sooner rather than later as he looks to avoid bringing players in at the last minute as he did last year.

The other three top quality targets listed by this source can be found below.

Jan Vertonghen (Ajax)

The Telegraph believes that Wenger is lining up a move for adaptable Ajax man Jan Vertonghen, a player who is equally at home in the centre of defence and as a defensive midfielder. Knows Thomas Vermaelen well from their time as a defensive partnership at the Amsterdam club as well as team-mates for the Belgian national side.

Lucas Biglia (Anderlecht)

The 26 year old box to box midfielder has become something of a cult hero at Anderlecht during his six years at the club. Such have been the strength of his recent performances that the he has now been drafted into the Argentine national team squad.

Lukas Podolski (Koln)

The Telegraph states that an £11m deal has now been agreed by Koln and Arsenal and that the adaptable attacker should add a much needed goal-threat alternative to Robin Van Persie.

Arsenal, though, will have a clear idea of what they regard as value for money and, if the asking price is excessively inflated by the interest of Real and Inter, they will move on to other targets.
Anderlecht captain Lucas Biglia is also on Wenger’s radar. Arsenal have already agreed terms with Cologne on the £11 million signing of Germany forward Lukas Podolski and Wenger also has an interest in Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen.
