Anfield boss keen on Stamford Bridge bargain buy.
Liverpool will this summer line up a move for Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou as Kenny Dalglish looks to beef up his attacking options. The Ivory Coast international will be out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal and the lack of regular first team football may well lead the former Feyenoord man to consider an offer from the Merseyside club.
The 26 year old has struggled to secure a run of games ever since he arrived Stamford Bridge in May 2006 and has consistently played second fiddle to a number of striking team-mates in that period and may now be ready to leave the West London side in search of first team football.
Kenny Dalglish has spent upwards of £120m on improving his Anfield squad over the past 18 months but his failure to secure Champions League football means that the club’s American owners will not be so eager to splash the cash this summer. Therefore the Scot will be looking to pick up cost effective signings and believes Kalou’s adaptability could be of great use to his side.
The Chelsea man can play in a wide role or in an orthodox striking position and has a great deal of top level experience having amassed over 250 appearances for the Blues.
Luis Suarez is currently Liverpool’s most effective attacking weapon and though England international Andy Carroll has improved of late there is seemingly still a need to bring in back-up given that Dalglish’s side have managed just 40 goals in 33 Premier League matches.
Dalglish will feel that the chance to nab a player of Kalou’s talent for nothing is worth looking into and though there is reported interest from several Ligue 1 sides the Chelsea man may be tempted to remain in the Premier League.
