The Swansea midfielder has been in blistering form since his January loan move from German club Hoffenheim. And the former Reading player looks set for another season in the Premier League, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton all keen on the player’s signature.
But the Bundesliga outfit are now demanding a fee in the region of £10m for the attacking midfielder, who has blasted seven goals in 14 starts for the Swans.
Everton coach Jimmy Lumsden, United scout Martin Ferguson and Kop chief Kenny Dalglish all watched Sigurdsson in action against Bolton on Saturday.
Swansea would ideally like to extend the former Iceland international’s loan for another year, however Hoffenheim will know that now’s a good time to cash in with all the top clubs interested. It is likely that they German side will sell to the highest bidder this Summer, with reports in the region of £10m bid thought to be enough to temp the club into selling.
The loan deal has been controversial with the German side, with their supporters still chanting Sigurdsson’s name every week. The club will know that only a major fee for the 22-year-old will take the heat out of the decision.
