Anfield side keen on bringing American forward to the club.
Liverpool are lining up a shock move for Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey.
Tom Werner as given a broad hint American hitman Clint Dempsey is a Liverpool target.
The Fulham striker, 29, has long been tipped as being on Reds’ hitlist.
And Werner, a front-man for Kop owners Fenway Sports, admitted: “Any team would be lucky to have Clint Dempsey in their squad.”
A move to bring Clint Dempsey to Anfield would make a great deal of sense given that the Merseyside club is struggling both for goals as well as players able to provide the ammunition for others.
The 29 year old American international can play in a number of roles but currently he is enjoying his richest vein of form in a fairly advanced attacking role, although not quite in an orthodox striking position. It may be this very position, alongside or behind Luis Suarez, that Kenny Dalglish may have in mind for the Fulham man.
Dempsey has netted 22 goals this term and has just over a year to run on his current contract, leading to speculation that the Texan could be considering his options after six seasons at his West London club.
Other than the aforementioned Suarez, Dalglish has no other effective attacking options to speak of so could be tempted to make an offer for the Fulham man. Andy Carroll has picked up his game but is still to make a real impact, Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt are both in the latter stages of their careers so there is certainly scope for beefing up the Liverpool front-line.
