Brazil star could still make move to Premier League champions
Thiago Silva would consider Manchester City switch should Milan be willing to let him go
Long linked with a move to Manchester City, central defender Thiago Silva’s insistence he is happy at AC Milan has done little to quell the speculation.
Mancini was seen in discussions with AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani last week, further fuelling conjecture that he is high on the idea of making Silva a City player.
At the peak of his career, Silva is currently valued at around £30million, though such a fee would not prove a stumbling block for City, who have frequently shelled out fees of this nature for the last few years.
One would wonder why the side with the best Premier League defensive record for two seasons running would need to invest £30m in a new centre back but clearly Roberto Mancini is not a man who is afraid to splash the cash to further improve his squad’s strength in depth and indeed Thiago Silva is one of the best in the business.
Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott have formed one of the most consistent central defensive partnerships in Europe over the past 18 months and Mancini has the very reliable Kolo Toure as back-up but perhaps feels that 27 year old Brazilian Thiago Silva can offer an improvement on what he already has in his Man City squad.
The former Fluminense is now in his third season at the San Siro and was instrumental in helping AC Milan to the Serie A title in 2010/11 but if the Brazilian international feels that the Rossoneri are willing to listen to offers for his services then Thiago Silva may feel that it’s time to leave the Italian club for pastures new.
