It appears that a raft of stories speculating the possible exits of White Hart Lane stars could indicate that Harry Redknapp will have a fight on to keep his top performers at the North London club following their unsuccessful push for a Champions League spot.

Though Tottenham finished fourth in the Premier League they saw their spot taken by Chelsea after the Blues triumphed over Bayern Munich to win the Champions League trophy earlier this month.

What could perhaps be most telling is the fact that for much of the last campaign Redknapp’s side were in fact genuine title challengers but a loss of form towards the end of the season saw all their hard work wasted.

The Daily Mail suggest that Man United are readying a bid for Croatian international Luka Modric, who they believe is available for around £35m. The 26 year old midfielder has been a crucial member of Redknapp’s starting eleven ever since he took over at White Hart Lane and he is a player he will fight tooth and nail to keep.

However the inability to secure a seat at the top table, combined with the gravitas of a move to Old Trafford may well prove too tempting for Modric to ignore. Chelsea were linked with a move for the Spurs schemer last summer but having captured Eden Hazard it seems that Sir Alex Ferguson may well now lead the chase.
