Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United all want to sign Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay after the Catalan club made it known they will consider offers for Dutchman.
Afellay, 26, has endured a frustrating period in Spain after joining from boyhood club PSV Eindhoven last year. He suffered a serious knee injury in September, sidelining him for seven months and only returned to the first team at the end of the April.
New Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova met with club President Sandro Rosell this week to discuss the club’s transfer strategy, with the Nou Camp outfit willing to listen to offers as low as £6 million for the tricky winger.
The news has alerted Spurs, Arsenal and Newcastle all of whom would welcome Afellay. Spurs were rebuffed in a loan bid for the Dutchman last summer after he was recommended by compatriot Rafael van der Vaart.
