Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is lining up an ambitious move to sign Arsenal duo Bacary Sagna and Theo Walcott as the Russian billionaire looks to continue his summer spending spree. Having already secured Marko Marin and Eden Hazard the Stamford Bridge supremo has continued to draw up plans to add to his Blues squad with the help of technical director Michael Emenalo.
Abramovich is keen to flex his financial muscles this summer and will look to make the most of Chelsea’s ‘Champions League winner’ status as he prepares to make further moves in the transfer market.
Chelsea are said to be on the look out a more reliable right back after allowing Jose Bosingwa to see out his contract and seemingly opting to use Branislav Ivanovic as primarily a central defender. The West London club have been strongly linked with Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel but now Abramovich is ready to launch a bid for French international Bacary Sagna.
Abramovich is willing to offer Sagna a lucrative contract and is ready to stump up a significant fee for the 29 year old French international. The Chelsea owner will hope to persuade the former Auxerre man that he has a better chance of challenging for major honours with the Blues than he has thus far with Arsenal.
The solid full-back has just completed fifth season at the Emirates Stadium and is yet to secure a single tangible success so perhaps the allure of a move to Chelsea could tempt the Burgundy born defender.
Sagna has two years to run on his current deal and may feel that at this stage of his career he needs to be considering his options.
