Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering a move for Malaga striker Salomon Rondon according to Tuttosport and the La Liga side have informed the Gunners boss that it would cost a fee in the region of €18m (£14.5m) to tempt them into selling the Venezuelan international.
The 22 year old finished last term as Malaga’s top scorer, helping them to secure a maiden Champions League berth, however the big spending La Liga side are apparently looking to bring in some new striking talent and could therefore be ready to allow the big forward to leave this summer.
Rondon moved to La Rosaleda in the summer of 2010 from second tier side Las Palmas and the youngster has proven relatively effective, notching up 27 goals in 72 appearances but perhaps Manuel Pellegrini feels he can bring in a more prolific marksman to take his spot in the starting eleven?
Wenger will no doubt be looking to bring in effective support for Robin Van Persie, in the hope that the Arsenal skipper does indeed put pen to paper on a new contract, and even though Lukas Podolski has joined from Koln there is still very much a need for additional alternatives who can help carry the goal-scoring burden.
Over the past two summers Arsenal have brought in the likes of Marouane Chamakh, Gervinho and Park Chu-Young, all of whom have failed to make an impact. The same could be said for loaned out pair Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela, who may well both be set to leave the North London club on a permanent basis.
