Italian midfielder Ivan Gennaro Gattuso could be in line for a sensational move to cash-strapped SPL side Rangers.
The free agent, whose wife is Scottish, has previously gone on record to say he would love a return to the club he represented between 1997 and 1988 but Rangers’ administration made any potential deal unlikely.
The Ibrox club have been hit with a transfer ban by the Scottish Football Association but Gattuso’s agent, Andrea D’Amico, has confirmed the 34-year-old World Cup winner is interested in a return to Glasgow should the situation change.
“There are different paths open to Gattuso and together we’re going to find the best solution”, D’Amico told Sky Sport Italia. “He still has a lot to give in the game, many teams are aware that he trains and can take to the field shortly,” he added.
“Rangers? They are one of the possibilities,” he added.
In a 13-year stint with AC, Gattuso won the Champions League and Serie A titles twice and formed a legendary partnership with playmaker Andrea Pirlo. The 5 foot 9 inch midfielder has been involved in a number of controversies during his glittering career, including grabbing Tottenham Hotspur assistant Joe Jordan – formerly of AC Milan – around the throat, when the sides met in the Champions League in February 2011.
Gattuso has said he will continue playing for at least two more years.
