Mancini eyes Coloccini, Agger and Luiz to bolster Manchester City defence
Roberto Mancini is ready to start Manchester City’s summer spending spree, and is in pursuit of a number of Premier League stars.
If the bid to sign Coloccini falls through, Mancini will turn his attention to either Liverpool’s Daniel Agger.

In the likely case that Newcastle United do not entertain notions of selling their captain, especially as he only just signed a four year contract, Man City’s efforts to land Daniel Agger may prove easier to fulfill. The Danish international is a quality player, when fit.
The Anfield man is however seemingly always suffering with one niggling injury or another and this may well lead Brendan Rodgers to consider offloading the 27 year old, who has only managed to rack up 105 Premier League appearances in six and a half years at the Merseyside club.
Whilst Agger does work well alongside Martin Skrtel as Liverpool’s main central defensive pairing, it is the Slovakian who is far more valuable to the club and perhaps Rodgers will look to bring in alternative options or he could of course look to trust to youth and use Uruguayan international Sebastian Coates more this coming season.
Man City’s need to bring defensive signings would presumably only be as back-up options given that Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott have formed perhaps the strongest centre back pairing in the Premier League.
