SOUTHAMPTON are ready to sign Robert Green, 32, instead of his England Euro 2012 team-mate Jack Butland, 19, to strengthen their keeper options.

It appears that England number two Robert Green has a fair share of prospective suitors and now Southampton appear to lead the chase for the West Ham keeper, who’s Upton Park contract has come to end.
Sam Allardyce has either not been interested in offering the former Norwich City keeper a new deal or perhaps Green made it clear he wished to leave the East London club.
Robert Green has racked up 241 appearances in his six seasons at West Ham, helping the Hammers back to the top flight via the play-offs, a route they took after Allardyce’s side failed to overhaul Southampton for an automatic spot back to the Premier League.
