The Sunday Express are reporting that Arsenal and Chelsea want to sign Alan Dzagoev after his match-winning performance for Russia on Friday.

The attacking midfielder currently plays for CSKA Moscow, but with his contract expiring at the end of the year a move could be on the cards.

Alan Dzagoev was already established as one of Europe’s hottest young talents and his two goal salvo against the Czech Republic only enhanced the CSKA Moscow attacker’s reputation and now it appears that Arsenal and Chelsea are looking to lure the pint sized youngster to London this summer.

Arsene Wenger is of course well known for his penchant for snapping up talented youngsters and honing them into the finished article and given that Chelsea do not currently have a permanent manager in place as well as having already brought in a very similar player to Dzagoev, a certain Eden Hazard, it may well prove that Arsenal are a more likely fit for the 21 year old.

Dzagoev has been a regular at CSKA Moscow for the past four years but as yet has not managed to help the club to a Russian Premier League title, something that has eluded the club for six years.

Arsenal boss Wenger may well have a number of attack minded central midfield options, including Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey, but none of this quartet offer a great deal in terms of goals. Dzagoev has scored 37 goals in the past four seasons and has a great deal of potential, potential that the Gunners boss may be keen to take advantage of.
