Arsenal and Newcastle are interesting in signing Juventus wide-man Eljero Elia after the Dutchman announced his intention to leave the Old Lady after just one season in Italy.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger tried to sign the tricky 25-year-old last summer before he joined Juventus from Hamburg, while Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is keen to replace flop Gabriel Obertan and is eyeing a cut price deal.
Netherlands international Elia has endured a frustrating season and played just four times as Antonio Conte’s side claimed their 28th Serie A title.
The rapid winger has 26 caps for his country and was part of the squad that finished as runners-up in World Cup 2010. But his lack of football has cost him his place in the Dutch squad and he was overlooked by coach Bert van Marwijk for Euro 2012.
Elia has had a transfer request accepted by Juventus and is now looking for a new challenge. A move to the Premier League interests the speedy winger and he has previously admitted an interest in joining Arsenal.
“I want to play football again and have fun again,” Elia told Eredivisie Live.
“My agent will arrange it. He will talk to me if there are any developments. They have already told me I will be able to move to another club,” he added.
