Having gone seven long seasons without silverware and seemingly moved ever further away from notching up a 14th top tier title it appears that Arsene Wenger is ready to spend big this summer. Having already picked up experienced German international Lukas Podolski a number of other targets are said to be lined up. Here are five players we feel could greatly aid the North London club’s aim to mount a genuine title challenge.

Olivier Giroud

In-form French international is reportedly close to joining Arsenal and one would hope that his arrival would not spell the end of Robin Van Persie’s Arsenal career. The Montpellier man could work well as a foil for the Dutchman, with Podolski perhaps working well on the flank, a role the former Koln man is more than able to fulfill.

Giroud had a fine season last term, netting 25 goals and helping his side to their first ever domestic title, and his form helped into the French national team set-up. The big forward’s physical presence should lend itself well to life in the English top tier and though the former Tours man has come on leaps and bounds over the past two years Arsene Wenger is just the type of manager who can help him achieve a great deal by honing his talents.
