French defender Mathieu Debuchy has insisted that he is completely focused on the Euros and he would keep his future talks on hold until after the Euros.

The Lille defender has emerged as a target for Arsenal this summer after the full extent of Bacary Sagna’s injury became clear and the fact that he would be missing the early part of the upcoming season was made public. Sagna suffered a broken leg against Norwich City in Premier league in May this year and is missing the Euros. He is not expected to be fully fit to be back on the pitch before September. Debuchy has filled in for the injured Arsenal right back for the French and has impressed Wenger who has been watching up close during the Euros.

Arsene Wenger is clearly looking to get recommendations for squad additions by watching the Euro 2012 finals and will have been impressed by Mathieu Debuchy’s performance for France against England and if indeed the Gunners boss was looking to bring in further full-back options then a move for the Lille man would be a clever one.

Wenger has of course already raided the Ligue 1 side to bring in Gervinho and Rudi Garcia has seen a number of his top performers leave, Eden Hazard’s departure to Chelsea being the most high-profile, and a move for Debuchy could be on the cards.

Newcastle United are also said to be keen on the 26 year old French international but a move to Arsenal could be preferable to the Lille man given the opportunity to participate in the Champions League.

Arsenal struggled last term with a succession of injuries to full-backs that led to the likes of Johan Djourou having to fill in and though the likes of Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson are available to the North London club perhaps a move for Debuchy could be on the cards?
