Kyriakos Papadopoulos is considered by many as one of Europe’s hot prospects and certainly a player that many Greeks deem as one with a bright future but interest shown by Man United is still a little surprising.
Though the 20 year old centre back has impressed during his two seasons at Schalke it would appear that in that area Sir Alex Ferguson has more than enough options on hand. The Scot can currently call upon Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones to fill the position so appear to have both experienced and youthful options at his disposal.
Papadopoulos came on as sub in Greece’s first Euro 2012 game against Poland and started ties with the Czech Republic and Russia showing himself to be a resilient performer with real promise.
A move to Man United however seems wide of the mark and indeed given that Schalke have Champions League football to offer the young Greek a move away from the Bundesliga side may well not be happening in the near future.
