A move to the Nou Camp on the cards for White Hart Lane squad player, really?
El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona are looking to sign Tottenham’s forgotten defender Vedran Corluka this summer. The Spanish source believes that new boss Tito Vilanova is interested in bringing the Croatian international to the Nou Camp to beef up his defensive options.
The adaptable 26 year old spent half of last term on loan at Bayer Leverkusen having seemingly become surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane, making Barcelona’s apparent interest something of a surprise.
Corluka can play effectively either at right or centre back and is a very experienced player having racked up over 250 appearances in a career that has also included spells at Dinamo Zagreb and Man City.
Vilanova may well feel he needs to bring in defensive reinforcements due to injury concerns over the likes of Carles Puyol and veteran Eric Abidal, who’s future at the Catalan club is not certain following his liver transplant earlier this year.
No doubt a move for Vedran Corluka wouldn’t cost a huge sum given that the Croat started just one Premier League match last term.
