Wenger admires Serb.
Arsenal are tracking skilful Ajax forward Miralem Sulejmani and could move for the Serbian as soon as Andrei Arshavin completes his transfer to Zenit St Petersburg.
Sulejmani joined Ajax from Feyenoord in 2008 and has gone onto to make 98 league appearances, scoring 29 times.
The 23-year-old has faced criticism for his perceived lack of work rate and bad attitude but is capable of unlocking the meanest defences on his day.
Wenger is prepared to gamble on the former Partizan Belgrade player and is weighing up a £15 million bid, just as soon as Arshavin completes his move back to his native Russia.
The Gunners are embarking on a major rebuilding operation this summer, with Lukas Podolski set to arrive next month and a deal for Montpellier forward Olivier Giroud nearing completion.
Andrei Arshavin reportedly still hopes to secure a permanent move back to Zenit despite recent criticism of the attacker from the Russian press after comments he made following his side’s surprise exit at the group stage of Euro 2012.
Arsene Wenger has been promised significant funds to improve his Gunners squad and will look to boost these funds with the sale of players on the periphery of the first team. Those said to be on their way to the Emirates Stadium exit include Marouane Chamakh, Denilson, Carlos Vela and Nicklas Bendtner.
