Bernabeu side look to land Etihad Stadium forward.
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho will reportedly launch a move to sign Man City striker Mario Balotelli this summer. The Bernabeu boss is looking to improve his attacking options and has earmarked a move for the Italian international who is the joint top scorer at the Euro 2012 finals.
Though Balotelli is displaying a good run of form in Ukraine and Poland, last term the youngster started just 14 Premier League matches and a number of incidents both on and off the field of play led some to speculate that Roberto Mancini may look to offload the troubled strikers.
Balotelli was sent off twice during Man City’s Premier League winning campaign but did manage to net 17 goals in all competitions. Mancini alternated between selecting the 21 year old and Edin Dzeko alongside Sergio Aguero and has been linked with reported interest in Napoli goal machine Edinson Cavani and with Carlos Tevez also seemingly returning to the fold there is a chance that the Etihad Stadium boss would consider offers for the former Inter Milan striker.
Mancini knows the youngster well from their time at the San Siro and their long term relationship may be the reason why Man City haven’t looked to sell the striker after a series of incidents that have kept Balotelli in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Jose Mourinho’s expansive squad only includes two recognised strikers, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain, and the Portuguese boss has been linked with a myriad of prospective targets but has now turned his attentions to Mario Balotelli. The Real Madrid boss is at the Euro 2012 finals and may well have been impressed by the Italian’s performances, especially his two goal salvo against Germany in the semi-finals.
Man City paid £24m for Balotelli just under two years ago and it would take a fee in excess of that price to make the Premier League title holders consider selling the young forward.
Balotelli has netted 27 goals in 60 appearances, of which 19 were coming on as substitute.
