Everton left-back calm on Old Trafford link.
England star Leighton Baines has admitted he is aware of interest from Manchester United but is not getting excited about the prospect of a move to Old Trafford.
Everton left-back Baines has long been linked witha move to United as a replacement for ageing Frenchman Patrice Evra. But the 27-year-old has three-years left on his existing deal at Goodison Park and is refusing to get carried away by the thought of joining the twelve-time Premier League champions.
“I’ve been aware of what’s been said in the press but I don’t know much beyond that,” Baines told ESPN. “It doesn’t do any harm [to be linked] but it doesn’t do any good either.
“It’s just one of those things that tends to swing around this time of year. People put two and two together sometimes they get four and sometimes they get three or five. It gets other people more excited than those involved.”
United have also been linked with moves for PSV and Netherlands left-back Jetro Willem but would prefer to sign Baines in a £13 million deal.
