Liverpool Ready To Meet £7m Release Clause For Newcastle United Striker Demba Ba

Red keen on cut-price striker.

Liverpool are considering moving for Newcastle striker Demba Ba – who would cost just £7 million.

The Senegalese striker’s release clause can be triggered before the end of July and Reds boss Brendan Rogers is keen to finalise a move this month, reports the Daily Mirror.

Ba impressed last season after signing for Toon on a free transfer from West Ham. The 27-year-old bagged 15 goals before heading off to the African Cup of Nations with Senegal in January.

He struggled to find the net on his return but formed a selfless partnership with compatriot Papiss Cisse at St James’ Park.

Liverpool are keen to add firepower up-front after strikers Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez struggled for goals as the Anfield club limped to a disappointing 8th placed finish.

Rogers is likely to face competition for Ba’s signature, with Tottenham also interested.
