Ness joins City.
Stoke City have agreed a deal for Rangers midfielder Jamie Ness.
The 20-year-old opted not to transfer his contract to Rangers newco and will sign an anticipated four-year deal at the Brittania Stadium as soon as he receives international clearance.
Ness will arrive on a free transfer after the PFA Scotland confirmed that departing Rangers players are legitimate free agents if they choose to terminate their contracts, although newco chief executive Charles Green has insisted he will take legal action over the departures.
Stoke manager Tony Pulis welcomed Ness to the Premier League, telling the club’s official website: “Jamie is a lad with enormous potential who is clearly determined to make the most of this fresh start in the game.”
“It’s important that we introduce some young blood in strengthening the squad and he certainly fits the bill as someone tipped for a bright future.”
Ness made just 18 appearances for Rangers last season after suffering a series of groin injuries throughout the campaign.
He is expected to be followed out of Ibrox by several other professionals as the mass exodus from the stricken clubs begins in earnest.
