£25 bid lodged for boy wonder.
Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a £25 million deal to bring Brazilian wonderkid Oscar to White Hart Lane.
The club have formally submitted a bid to the 20-year-old’s club, Internacional, are expect to conclude a deal in the next fortnight.
New boss Andre Villas-Boas believes the starlet, who already has six caps for Brazil, can replace the outbound Luka Modric who is nearing a £30 million move to Real Madrid.
Oscar’s signing would be a huge statement of intent from the Portuguese and would smash Spurs current transfer record of £16.5 million, paid to Charlton for Darren Bent.
Oscar caught the eye of the football world when he scored a hattrick in the final of the 2011 Under-20 World Cup against Portugal, becoming only the second player after Geoff Hurst to score three times in an official World Cup Final.
Spurs are likely to face competition for the youngster, who nearly joined QPR in January but could not get a work permit, from across Europe but hope their strategic partnership with Internacional will help complete the deal. The Lilywhites signed combative midfielder Sandro from the Porto Alegre club in 2010 and are also tracking striker Leandro Damiao.
