Ibrox side refused entry to Scottish top tier.
Rangers will not play in the Scottish Premier League this season.
SPL chairmen met at Hampden to vote on the new club’s application to replace the old Rangers in the top flight.
BBC Scotland has learned that 10 of the 12 clubs were in opposition, with Kilmarnock abstaining and Rangers voting in favour.
The reformed Ibrox club will now apply to play in the Scottish Football League but it is not clear which division they will enter.

So what now? Well having been booted out of the Scottish Premier League a move would presumably be made to take a spot in Scottish Division One but that is looking unlikely with 11 out of the 30 clubs in the Scottish league system already indicating they would oppose such a move.
It is looking increasingly likely that Rangers could be starting next season in Division Three.
Add to this situation the fact that 10 first teamers have refused to sign ‘newco’ contracts and the future looks pretty bleak for the Glasgow club.
