Defensive duo set to sign.
Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the double signing of Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen and Manchester United’s Ezequiel Fryers.
Vertonghen, 25, will complete his protracted transfer to White Hart Lane early next week after holding showdown talks with Ajax about additional payments he feels he is owed.
The Belgian will sign for an initial three years in a deal thought to be worth around £9 million, according to the Daily Mail.
Manchester United starlet Fryers, 19, is also set to complete a move to N17 after agreeing a four-year deal to join Spurs, reports Sky Sports.
The speedy youngster came through the ranks at Old Trafford and, if Spurs cannot agree a compensation package with United, then the case will go before a tribunal who will decide on an appropriate transfer fee.
Fryers, who like Vertonghen can play at both left-back and centrally, made six first team appearances at Old Trafford but refused to sign a new deal with the Premier League giants.
